How safe is Tilburg?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Tilburg is generally considered a safe city to travel to, even at night. Like in any other city, it is important to stay aware of your surrounds. The city center is typically busy and crowded, which adds an extra form of safety. Most of the streets are well-lit, and there's a noticeable police presence. However, it's always a good idea to avoid less crowded, darker areas late at night, as it is better to stick to populated areas where there are other people around.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Very safe

Public transportation in Tilburg is generally safe for solo female travelers. This includes the city's bus and train networks which are well-maintained and regularly monitored for safety. Most locals and visitors alike use these systems without any significant issues. It's always advisable to remain vigilant, especially during the night hours, though serious incidents are rare. The staff are very professional and there's usually security in and around the stations.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Tilburg, like most Dutch cities, is generally safe and street harassment is relatively low. However, it's important to be aware of your surroundings, especially during the evening or in less busy areas. Local residents are typically respectful and courteous, and instances of verbal or physical harassment are infrequent. While the city's safety measures and enforcement are respectable, it's important to always stay vigilant.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Tilburg is generally a safe city, even for solo female travelers. Petty crimes such as pickpocketing or small thefts can happen, as they would in any city, but they are not highly prevalent. Staying alert and keeping an eye on personal belongings can greatly reduce your chance of falling victim to these crimes.
Tap water:

Tap water:Very safe

Tap water in Tilburg is of a very high quality and is thoroughly tested to ensure safety. It's not only safe for drinking but also ranks among the best in the world. It is also sustainable, with the Netherlands having advanced systems for water management. So, feel confident to hydrate straight from the tap.

Is Tilburg safe to travel?

Is Tilburg safe for women?

Overall it is pretty safe. I often have to walk home late at night so I have had a couple of experiences with some drunk people that made me feel a bit unsafe. However, those are extremely rare and it was quite easy to disengage and continue on my way. Mostly if somebody talks to me when I'm walking alone they are trying to warn me for rowdy people up ahead (I have to walk through the centre so drunk people on weekend nights are pretty common). All in all, one of the safest cities that I have been in.
