Street sellers may bombard you with offers but not too hectic.
I am not an evening person, but walked around one night and felt comfortable. I stayed on well lit streets though.

Swakopmund felt like a small town being so sparsely populated. The locals were friendly, and there was no public transportation so walking is essential here. I traveled alone and felt safe here, even walking after sunset. Later at night the streets are very empty, so walking with a group felt more secure.

I am not a beach person, so cannot report on that, but the weather is mild and the UV is extremely high. Resulting in a burnt skin the first day.
