Swakopmund, Solo travel

A small town with a rich heritage. Lots of things to do in and around the town. The desert surrounding the town is mesmerizing. I am not a beach person, so cannot report on that, but the weather is mild and the UV is extremely high. Resulting in a burnt skin the first day.

Namibia, Solo travel

Namibia was ok. It's a very sparse country that is mostly desert. The main capital, Windhoek, is quaint with lots of museums to visit. The cuisine isn't extraordinarily different either a few game meats here and there. It's very much for adventure seekers who enjoy desert landscapes. The beach is nice with chilly weather.

Namibia, Solo travel

Namibia is a very safe country. Just be careful on the gravel roads. Most areas you do not need vaccination. I visited Namibia about 8 times. If you like to have any advise I am happy to help you. I also worked as a volunteer on a horse farm there.

Etosha National Park, Solo travel

Etosha National park is a must to visit in Namibia. You can visit it by self-driving, it’s very safe and well signalized. This is mostly a desertic landscape but you can easly see a lot of animal (lions, elephants, girafes … Don’t hesitate to go every one or two hours close to the main water point to see animals.

Swakopmund

I felt comfortable walking everywhere during the day. Locals are friendly and helpful. Street sellers may bombard you with offers but not too hectic. I am not an evening person, but walked around one night and felt comfortable. I stayed on well lit streets though.

Namibia

Namibia is safer compared to other African countries but you can never be too carefull. Avoid wakling alone in isolated areas of the city and make sure to take a cab at night but not one of the taxis... get a app similar to uber like lefa.

Swakopmund

Swakopmund felt like a small town being so sparsely populated. The locals were friendly, and there was no public transportation so walking is essential here. I traveled alone and felt safe here, even walking after sunset. Later at night the streets are very empty, so walking with a group felt more secure.

Pretoria

Pretoria generally offers a moderate level of safety for tourists, but caution is advised. Petty crime like pickpocketing and bag snatching is common, especially in crowded areas. Violent crime rates are higher in certain areas, so it's crucial to be aware of your surroundings, avoid isolated areas, especially at night, and use reputable transportation. As a resident here, I haven't experienced any issues over the past year.
