How safe is Tequila?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

While Tequila is generally safe, wandering alone at night as a female traveler is not recommended. The town, known for its tequila production, tends to be peaceful but like any location, can pose risks especially during the night. It's always advisable to stay in well-lit, populated areas and avoid wearing flashy jewelry or carrying large amounts of cash to prevent unwanted attention. Using taxi services from trusted sources instead of walking alone can also increase your safety.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Moderate

Public transportation in Tequila can be quite reliable, especially during the daylight hours. The town is small, making it easy to navigate. Buses and taxis are common means of transport. Although generally safe, be vigilant about your surroundings, and avoid public transportation late at night to minimize risks. Always make sure to use licensed taxis.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Tequila, although being a relatively popular tourist destination, still maintains a warm and welcoming environment. The occurrence of street harassment is not notable, and interactions are generally cordial. However, as with traveling to any location, it is always advised for travelers to remain vigilant, especially at night and when alone.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Tequila is relatively safe in terms of petty crimes. While pickpocketing or purse snatching can occasionally occur in bustling areas or tourist spots, a greater risk is present in larger cities. It's always advised to take standard precautions such as avoiding displaying expensive items, staying vigilant, and keeping personal belongings secure and within sight. But generally speaking, Tequila is a friendly and welcoming city with a low frequency of minor criminal activity.

Solo travel

Hello I went to Tequila on March 2024 with an all women group called “Morritas viajeras” it was my first experience in Tequila hence I was a little bit nervous because Mexican roads can be really dangerous. However they were always taking care of us. When we arrived at Tequila’s downtown I ate at a local restaurant (sadly I don’t remember the name :( ) next to the cathedral and actually it was really good, I recommend it. We took the barrel tour to know about the tequilas factory and to the agave camp. It was really good, I had so much fun and tequila shots. I would really recommend goin to tequila on a day trip. However as always, when there’s alcohol involved we should be always careful about what we drink, be with someone we trust and have an emergency number on dial. We went to Cantaritos el güero, and it was cool but too many drunk people so if it’s not your kind of place I would not recommend it. So have fun, ladies and be careful :) If you need any help or another recommendation you can tell me
