Safe area, I have traveled alone often, but avoid closed alleys, stay in busy places. It is a beautiful place full of art and culture, very fun and filled with gastronomy from different parts of the world, not just Mexican food.

Guanajuato is pretty safe if you are a foreigner, but you must be careful, not only at Guanajuato but in all Mexico. People is great, people is nice, but the problem is not inside civilians, but criminal organizations. So, if you stay at good hours and at currently places, there’s nothing to worry about.
