Is Actopan safe for solo female travelers?

Actopan is generally considered a fairly safe city in Mexico. However, as with anywhere, always stay alert and be mindful of your surroundings. It is particularly safer to avoid nightlife activities and secluded areas alone. Local people are friendly and often willing to help, but make sure to take precautions by letting someone know your plan, and share your itinerary and accommodation details in case of emergencies. Women should take the usual precautions for solo travel, including watching their food and drink and avoiding to display signs of wealth. While crime rates are relatively low compared to other Mexico's cities, it doesn't nullify the possible risks. Public transportation can be used with caution, preferably during daylight hours.
