Tsuyama is relatively safe for solo female travelers. A small city known for its castle and friendly locals, it benefits from Japan's overall low crime rate. Like with anywhere else, basic safety precautions are advisable. Residential and more populated areas are highly watched, and the public transportation is safe, even during night-time hours. Incidences of crime are very low and the Japanese citizens are mostly very respectful. Street harassment is fairly uncommon, and policewomen and bilingual police boxes can be found to assist you if needed. However, it is recommended that you have the address and phone number of your country’s embassy with you at all times.
