Such a peaceful and healing city. Thereās perfect mix of quiet and excitement. The food here is excellent especially the fresh seafood. There are a lot of Chinese and Korean tourists here, but not that overwhelming. Accommodation and food is inexpensive. And itās very safe.
Posted: February 8, 2026Japan is definitely an extremely safe country overall but itās still a little surprising that that fact extends to the cities even when youāre a solo lady. I only stopped in Fukuoka city for one day while on a road trip but it was really easy to walk around even in the evening and just enjoy the vibe of the city. It was Golden Week so it was lively even though it was a weekday but I didnāt get any unwanted attention and I ended up staying out ridiculously late visiting the small bars and karaoke spots around! Oh, and eating too much gelato lol. Iām hoping I can go back and spend some more...

Fukuoka is a very safe place, where you can solo trip as a girl alone with no problems. No need to worry about being harassed in anyway. You can go out at night freely, however almost everything closes at 20:00 ~ 22:00
Posted: September 24, 2025Environmentally it is rather safe as earthquakes and tsunamis rarely ever come. The people are kind too but you can never be too careful! Try avoiding trains full of people, as there is a risk of being sexually assaulted (although, it is safe enough to sleep a little if you're sitting down). This is a wide problem, not only in Fukuoka obviously but all over japan. Pickpocketing isn't usually a problem either, but like i said before you can never be too careful.
Posted: September 2, 2025I found Fukuoka is a safe city. Of course there might be a chance to get bad experience in any country. But I can walk at night time alone and I feel prtty safe to do it. I think most of places in Japan is like that and I really appreciate.

Fukuoka, Japan is a very safe city/prefecture. People are very kind and helpful and will go out of their way to help you. No one tries to take advantage of foreigners/travellers and even if there is a language barrier everyone always does their best to help. Iāve lost my phone and wallet numerous times and it was always turned in to the store or the police. Also, you donāt need to worry about pick pockets in Japan āŗļø
Posted: November 3, 2024The people are all nice and friendly. I wouldn't say that walking around at night is 100 percent safe, but I think it is safe. If you have any problems, ask the people around you and they will tell you. I think you will enjoy the good food and the nice cafes, as there are many wonderful places to eat :)
