Syros is considered extremely safe for solo female travelers. The locals are very hospitable and respectful towards women. The crime rate is very low and there are rare incidents of petty crime like pickpocketing. Public transportation and taxis are reliable and safe to use even at night. It's always advisable though, to apply common sense precautions, such as not walking alone at night in secluded areas.
