Is Varna safe for solo female travelers?

Varna is generally safe and welcoming for solo female travelers. Use the same precautions you would in any unfamiliar city - be aware of your surroundings, especially at night, and keep valuables secure. Bulgarian people are usually friendly and helpful. However, like anywhere else, it's worth being mindful of districts described as unsafe or experiencing a higher-than-average rate of crime.

How safe is Varna?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Varna is generally quite safe, especially during the day. However, like any city, it has some areas that are less safe at night. It is recommended that you stay in well-lit, populated areas and avoid walking alone at night in isolated or poorly lit places. Local knowledge about which areas are safe is very useful, so don't hesitate to ask locals or hotel staff for advice. Burglaries, pickpocketing, and car theft are the most common crimes, but they are not widespread. Always be alert and aware of your surroundings, particularly at night.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Varna is generally considered safe and reliable. It's commonly used by both locals and tourists, encompassing buses, taxis, and a limited local train service. However, being a foreign traveler, always be aware of your surroundings, keep an eye on your belongings and avoid travelling late at night. As in any place you visit, basic travel precautions should still be observed.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Varna generally seems to be safe for a solo female traveler. Instances of street harassment are fairly uncommon, with most locals being respectful and welcoming. However, like any city, caution and awareness of your surroundings are always advised
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Varna generally has a lower risk of petty crimes like pickpocketing or bag snatching. However, it is always recommended to take care while in crowded places and ensure to secure all personal belongings. Always remain vigilant especially at night or when visiting less touristy areas.
Tap water:

Tap water:Safe

Tap water in Varna is generally safe for consumption. The city's water supply is regularly monitored and meets the EU's rigorous standards for water quality. However, as with anywhere, the taste and mineral content can vary from place to place. If you have a sensitive stomach or are not accustomed to the local water, you may prefer to drink bottled water.

Is Varna safe for women?

Main streets are fairly safe but I don't recommend back alleys especially after dark. At summer city is much more crowded which is more safe and since it is a seaside city would recommend going there in summer
