Overall, I felt safe but I knew I had to be vety cautious walking around. The people were nice however if you dont know Bulgarian or Russian they tend to be very rude. My bag got stolen with everything in it, there are professional thiefs there. Everything was cheap compared to anywhere in Europe, the food amazing, the alcohol somewhat good, the pubs and bars were amazing tho. There is public transportation and the beaches were very nice.

Sometimes it feels sketchy. Act just normal as you would in every European city. It is a beautiful place to visit, not sure for living. It starts feeling a bit boring after living for 2 years here. Drugged and drunk people are started to seem more often as it used to be.
Posted: October 17, 2025I would say its pretty safe, especially public transport. Night life is safe too, at least in my experience and what I've heard. The only thing that I'm worried about is locals reaction to gay or alt looking people. There were multiple accidents when teenage boys have beaten somebody just because of their looks (but the targets are usually teenagers too).
Posted: September 18, 2025Overall I would say Varna is pretty safe , I haven't lived here for a lot of years but so far I haven't had any safety problems Small theft still remains an issue although I have never experienced it personally

Quite safe, not much to worry about except the birds that might steal your food. There are certain parts of the city that are full of robbers but it's usually far away from the center of the city. Might notice drunk and homeless people around at the center.
Posted: June 5, 2025It's a very safe city to live and visit compared to other cities in Europe. You feel safe walking around. People are nice and ready to help when they can. There are many places to visit that are beautiful and can be seen during the day, but also at night when the vibe hits differently.
