I went there with my Cousin (so it wasn't really as a couple) and we loved it, specially the beach "carro quebrado". If you go there and stay at a resort try to eat outside and visit less touristy beaches. Got some caipirinhas for R$15 or less and the food was really good! I do recommend going with a man tho and getting a car while being there, which makes it far less expensive then doing lots of tours

Maceio is not a safe city for tourism because many tourist spots have drug users or homeless people nearby. The only place that we can say is safe for tourism is the beach, but even so, one must be careful.
