Is Aracaju safe for solo female travelers?

Aracaju is moderately safe for solo female travelers. As in any sizable city worldwide, it is advisable to exercise caution, particularly at night. Petty crime can occur, and it is advisable to avoid less-frequented areas and beaches late at night. However, generally, people are friendly and helpful, and the town itself is relatively peaceful. Public transports are easily accessible, but taking taxis or Uber is preferable during late hours. Speaking some Portuguese or having a translation app can also be beneficial in certain situations.

How safe is Aracaju for female travelers?

How safe is Aracaju for women?

I'm from the South and I think Aracaju is a very safe city, but of course if you're walking alone at night on the street while using your phone, there's a chance you might get mugged. In terms of harassment, from my experience and that of my friends, it is very rare to happen (at most, we're called attractive or other not very serious types of harassment). I always walk alone at night and, in the five years I've lived here, it has only happened twice that a guy stopped his motorcycle and tried to hit on me (but just raise your voice and be aggressive and they go away).
