We had a lot of fun. It was a bit of a different vacation for us as we didn't have a car so we had to stick to walking distance from where we were staying....with kids that get "tired" quick lol. The beaches are gorgeous and always a good time if you have beach bums like me. Even in November, it was warm enough to enjoy outdoor activities. Safety was never a concern for us but my husband does speak Spanish fluently so that helped! Tourist center of Playa del Carmen IS expensive compared to other areas of Mexico but that's to be expected.
