I took my mom to Israel in June and we just spent some time with my friends there. We felt safe and people are amazing there. 
It’s my forth times to go to Ein Gedi and my mom’s first time. There are too many places worthy to explore especially some hidden gems brooks where only locals know. Don’t miss out the warm hummus, fresh fruits, and Arabic coffee in Damascus gate (First shop at entrance of the right ally)

I went in 2016, so I felt relatively safe.  It was with a large, organized group, so there were other people around at all times.  We stayed in a hotel and then mostly explored the city on foot.  This city is truly unique and I will never forget my visit.  There is so much to explore and admire, the three days we stayed felt insufficient.  I would absolutely recommend you visit.
