Expat Women in Chicago

We are a friendly community of international women living in Chicago who connect and make friends. We welcome expats, students who study abroad, and anyone living far from home.

About me

Seeking quality guests as too many guests on Couchsurfing are outright rude or irresponsible -- or both. Also, too many nudists and/or sexual predators on that site. Too few female hosts. About me

I am usually a stay at home kind of person unless I am traveling. When I travel, I usually create an elaborate itinerary of all the things I want to do, see and experience in that country.

About me

I’m just getting back into travel and excited to explore again. I’ve lived in Chicago, Illinois for the past 10 years, and before that in Southern California. I’m really regretting throwing that awful headshot in as a placeholder photo now that I found out I can’t change it. 😭

About me

Hi there! I'm Nina, and I've been living in the south side of Chicago for over ten years. When I'm not plotting my next adventure, I'm hanging out with my black lab mix Dracula, crafting small leather goods like wallets and keychains, practicing tie dye and going to concerts! Despite my eagerness to travel and go go go, I love watching movies and binging tv shows on the couch with my pup. I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO and when I took my first trip to Chicago in 2010, I got an overwhelming feeling of joy for experiencing new places! Since then, I've been to about half of the US states, Niagara falls in Canada, Cancun & Cozumel in Mexico. I've been able to spend some time in Scandinavia visiting Copenhagen, Stockholm, Bergen, Molde, Oslo. I love to travel to see my favorite band, King Gizzard and the lizard wizard and got to go to Lisbon, Portugal for a week and their music fest in Colorado, Field of Vision. I got the travel bug hard and I'm currently planning a return to Scandinavia with stops in Tallin, Estonia, Oslo and Stockholm for December!

Is Chicago safe for women?

There's definitely rougher spots, but I have lived here all my life, and I have not experienced any real danger against me. Be aware of your surroundings, but there is no need for paranoia. This is a beautiful city with so much to offer!

I go to Chicago several times a year, and I have never felt unsafe there, either during the day or at night! The police are present, the locals are helpful. Of course, it's best to avoid dangerous neighborhoods!
