Is Thailand Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Thailand is generally safe for solo female travelers. However, exercising common sense and staying aware of the surroundings are important. The locals are friendly and helpful, but, as in any place, it's important to be cautious of who to trust. Be careful with belongings and avoid venturing out alone at night, especially in quieter areas. Majority of the people are respectful, friendly and will help if you're in need.

Bangkok, Solo travel

Bangkok surprised me in the best possible way. It was my first trip to Asia, and I completely fell in love with the city. What fascinated me most was its contrasts. One day you can party on Khao San Road with travelers from all over the world, enjoy great food and cheap drinks, and dance until sunrise. The next day you can visit beautiful temples, learn about Buddhism, and experience a completely different side of life. I was especially impressed by Wat Arun, a stunning historic temple dating...

Thailand, Solo travel

Thailand was my very first big trip, and I traveled alone. I discovered I was less anxious, more at peace, surrounded by magnificent landscapes and very kind people. Grabs and public transport cost practically nothing, accommodation is very affordable even in Bangkok, but shopping can sometimes be a bit pricey depending on what you buy.

Thailand, Solo travel

I have travelled to Thailand couple of times. It’s very safe country to visit even as a solo female traveller. My experience travelling in Chiang Mai especially was amazing. I visited Elephant Sanctuary which was highlight of my trip.

Fun, interesting but very hot. I wish i knew more about public transport then it would have been more affordable. I do suggest shopping in icon siam and platinum mall. Foods were great although it was hard for vegetarian.

Bangkok

As any capital, be careful with the strangers and avoid being alone in the dark places at odd hours. Besides that, it is the safest city I have been to. I have nothing to complain about. Download the app Grab before arriving or just arriving. It saves a lot in this city, you can request from a moto taxi to a car taxi, food, coffee, anything, and you can pay in cash or you can add your credit/debit card, in case you don't have cash.

Phuket Province

I am a solo traveler and safety is very important to me. I didn’t feel anything bad or dangerous in Phuket, even very late at night (arrived at my bungalow 1 a.m - left the place to eat since I was very hungry after a 10-hour flight). The neighborhood where my accommodation was, was alive with very friendly and helpful locals (Kata Beach) 🏖️ … felt safe and sound during my 10-day stay.

Hua Hin

It feels pretty safe so far I’ve left my bags and everything on my chair at the beach and walked around and no one touched it. The Thai people are very kind and it’s a good amount of retired Europeans.

Chiang Rai

Safe as houses, very laid back city with lovely people. I’ve had no issues walking about as a female solo traveller. The grabs take longer than the bigger cities but there are plentiful tuk tuks everywhere.

About me

Hi! My name is Anastasia 🌸 I’m originally from Moscow, Russia, but now I live in Thailand on the island of Phuket, working as a marketing specialist in international real estate. Traveling is my lifestyle ✈️ I’ve just come back from Tanzania, currently staying in Turkey, and soon I’m planning trips to France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. I’d love to meet new girlfriends and like-minded women to explore together and share experiences. I’m an optimistic, cheerful, and kind person. Life on the road taught me to be easy-going and always open to new adventures. I already have friends all over the world, and I’m excited to expand this circle especially with creative, inspiring people who see the world with wide-open eyes 🌍💫 If you ever come to Thailand, I’ll be happy to welcome you in Phuket, show you around, and share all the best local spots 🏝️
