Bangkok is quite safe people is friendly, but you have to beware as well, because people are different. I live in Minburi outside the city my hometown quite safe and mostly are local area and not far from the city
Posted: October 30, 2024It is a smaller, rural city filled with beautiful temples. There are number of other travellers and expats living there as well. I have felt safe in Chiang Rai (and all over Thailand for that matter), as the people are very warm, welcoming and friendly, as one would expect in a predominately Buddhist country.
Posted: August 3, 2024Very safe you can walk alone at night but just be smart. What's not safe is the sidewalk because they're not well made. They're made to break down shortly for corruption procurement. Traffic can be quite heavy in many areas and Thais do not respect road rules so you could get hit by anything any time.
Posted: July 14, 2024This is one of the most cities I’ve visited so far in Asia. Men are not cat calling girls and I’ve always feel safe here. I also love that services like Grab offer an option for ladies only, this means I can feel even more safe by taking a cab at night because I know there will be a woman driving.

The island is not very touristy, not a lot of people and locals are nice. Most don’t speak english but they will do anything to help you if you have a problem. I never felt unsafe with anyone. Only problem is that in secluded areas it’s’ very dark and a bit scary.

A beautiful and relax city. You have a lot of activities and market to visit here. I’ve been here for at least 2 weeks and I felt safe walking on the street and the food is cheap and delicious. I totally recommend to come to Chiang Mai

I've never had any issues here. It's of course got the regular thieves and whatnot but compared to most other places it's extremely safe! I live here as a solo female and haven't experienced any issues.
Posted: June 4, 2024I been here for a few days now and even tho the place is kinda crowded, I haven’t experienced any dangerous situations here. No cat calling or anything. People are kind and friendly, so this is definitely a good place to visit if you’re a solo traveller.
Posted: June 3, 2024Thailand is very very safe and cosy. Food is great people are friendly, Kohphangan is one of the bet places on earth.you can ask anyone on the street what you are looking for and everywhere is good restaurants and yoga schools
Posted: May 31, 2024I felt very safe in Ohuket. I’ve lived there for half a year, and never experienced any unsafe moments. I liked walking alone at night, especially in busier areas. Never did I have the feeling that someone would rob me. Also, people never catch called or anything.

- Safety : Chiang Mai is pretty safe, as thailand is in general compared to many other countries. - Things to do : So many things ! Definitely the night market in the old town every weekend. A day tour of the old town the same day would be perfect. And then, book a tour either with your hotel or while walking on the street on a travel agency (best way for me) to see the elephants, the mountains and the jungle ! - Food : Khao Soi. Aroi mak ! (Delicious haha) - Budget : Pretty Cheap destination. You have to pay a fee to go to the national parks and to visit some temples but honestly, it's very very affordable ! Only big expenses will be for the market and the food because you will eat too much ! - Accommodation : Hostels are a great deal to find some new friends. Very cheap and very clean. (I stayed right at the entrance of the old town). But if you like more "jungle" experience, there is some very nice inn with amazing view at the limit of Chiang mai - Transport : for me it's the hardest thing in thailand in general as I can't drive a bike. If you have international driving license, renting a bike is the easiest way to moove around but It can be very dangerous is the city. So maybe keep it for when you wanna go outside of the city to some remote places with less traffic. In the city, you can take the songtae (some cars open at the back where you can sit). It's the local way to moove around. A bit like bus and taxis. Otherwise, to go out of Chiang mai, either mini van or local bus (better to book before on 12go Asia for example). I went straight to the local bus station and took a bus to Chiang Dao (some place up north) and the bus dropped me 2km before my stop (I was the only foreigner). Seems to happen quite a lot to foreigners for some random reason so book before haha Anyway, Chiang Mai is really amazing, worth the visit ! (1 day to visit the old city center and weekend night market, 1 day tour to see elephants, 1 day tour to visit Chiang Rai, 1 day to visit temples and around, and 1 last day to enjoy the city and it's weekend market ! Stay around 5 days minimum)
