I've walked solo and taken public transportation and taxi's solo all around Chiang Mai, sometimes as late (or early) as 4am. I have never once felt in danger in this city. The absolute worst I've experienced is some base level catcalling like "you're pretty" in a very crowded area.
Posted: September 4, 2025Itās a bustling city full of activity, yet if you look closely, thereās a surprising amount of peace. Most people go about their own lives, keeping to themselves and rarely noticing what others are doing.
Posted: August 28, 2025A big city yes. But safe compared to western counterparts, for sure! Bustling and lots going on but really itās mostly tourist and locals trying to make their way. Of course be careful and witty but if you are westerner you will for sure be confident
Posted: August 28, 2025Bangkok is a pretty safe place for living, especially when you choose silom or thong lo areas to live. But I donāt recommend going to the poor locals areas at night, because it may be dangerous especially for the foreigner women.

Itās safe in the city but somewhere far away and remote from city might be some seedy place that doesnāt feel safe. Just try not to walk by urself where no people around. Most of thai are kind and respectful but ofc like anywhere else thereās still some bad seeds. Just be vigilant š«¶š»

Thailand is the first international trip I took independently with a friend of mine, and the experience was wonderful. Thai people are the sweetest, the food is excellent, the activities are amazing, and the shopping is cheap and fun. We covered three places, Phuket, Krabi and Bangkok, and each place had such a different vibe. We really enjoyed exploring old Town Phuket, the Island tour at Krabi, and Chatuchak market and cooking classes in Bangkok. The best part was the SAFETY. We never once felt threatened or on alert. We got a female cab driver at night which made us feel extra safe. I wish to visit Thailand again and maybe cover the northern cities of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. ā¤ļø Thailand is a must visit country, they hype on social media is absolutely worth it.
