In some places or districtis could be a little bit more dangerous than the centric ones like Miraflores, Barranco or Jiron de la Union, the main kind of trasport like train, Metropolitano and corredores are regulary safe in the stations and clean. There are some points out of the centric ones but its so easy to come back to your secure point.

Lima is only safe in some areas. You gotta be alert at most times. If you take a taxi, send your life location to someone just in case. If you have drinks at a bar or pub, never accept them from a stranger and keep your glass in sight.
