Depends on the area you’re in. In broad daylight its safe but after dark drunk people might scare you. There are some cases where weirdos approach you but that’s only 1% chance. I think you should stay in more open areas rather than walking through sketchy walkways.

Very safe comparing to other EU countries. Safe to walk at night, just stay aware of walking around weird people but they are not harmful. It is safe to get into taxis, have not heard any accidents happened.

Klaipeda is actually really safe, but from time to time there does happen some concerning stuff, most of it is related to personal misunderstandings, so there’s no need to be nervous if you’re just a tourist wandering around. I’ve never heard of tourist being attacked or robbed or anything of the sorts
Posted: January 18, 2025Maybe there are few districts that has criminal issues, but overall it's very safe in Klaipeda. People even leaves their bicycles unlocked. Maybe some streets that got no lighting are unsafe to walk by or to go under bridges.
Posted: January 16, 2025Vilnius is an extremely safe city. Maybe because it's quite small and everybody knows each other in one way or another, so making immoral stuff would be quite humiliating, cause it wouldn't go unnoticed.
Posted: January 16, 2025Kaunas had a lot of history with organized crime in the 90s when Lithuania just declared independence, but since joining the EU and NATO our country, in my opinion flourished, when I was growing up the city did not have a good vibe, but since reconstructing our city, getting more funds into education, culture and etc. Kaunas became much more safe, living here all my life, and not being the type of person to stay indoors, I'd say as a woman I have never been threatened, followed, harassed physically or sexually here. I am a night owl and also a traveller between the cities in Lithuania, at night I have never felt unsafe or had any incidents that requeried any intervienence.
Posted: January 10, 2025Overall, Kaunas is a very safe city. While there are some areas to avoid during a dark period, Kaunas center and most areas are really safe. The crime rate is also really safe compared to cities across the world.

Overall Vilnius is safe, i have heard some cases of minor attacks on foreigners but its not very common and stuff like that happens everywhere. So just to be safe, i wouldnt advise anyone to go outside after midnight, also alcoholism is a problem in Lithuania (its eastern european disease haha) so just be careful and aware of your surroundings if you go to a bar. I did witness a bar fight once but again, that happens everywhere😂🤌 I've been harassed and scared to death in countries like Finland and Germany, so as a woman, i think we should be extremely careful everywhere we go. Based on my previous experiences in both western and eastern european countries,I would rate Vilnius as a safe city🇱🇹💖
Posted: January 5, 2025Vilnius feels very safe for a female traveler. The city center is well-lit, and people are around even late at night. Public transport is reliable, and I’ve felt comfortable exploring. Of course, basic precautions are always a good idea.

I walk a lot, so even walking home alone in my remote home area after few drinks feels safe enaugh for me. It is never 100% safe to walk alone at night, but i am sure there is no sittuation without a solution💜

Vilnius is extremely safe, quiet city. Transportation is very comfortable and it is easy to get from one point to another. In 2 days, it is possible to complete the city tour. First day: the Church of St. Peter and Paul, Monument of Three Crosses, Gediminas Castle Tower and the second day Old Town and the churches, streets, squares in Old Town can be explored. Pilies Street, the Orthodox Church of Holy Spirit are must-see locations.

From my experience, I can tell that we overall felt safe during our trip, and were very excited about tourist sightseeings. Vilnius is a vibrant city with interesting spots, restaurants, history, people, and culture.

I am Italian and I live in Vilnius, Lithuania. It is my home and one of the greenest capitals in Europe. I like travelling and seeing new countries through the eyes of locals. I am fluent in English and Italian, and I’m studying Arabic!
