Is probably safer outside the city center, there is a little bit of catcalling in the streets. Don't leave your stuff unwatched!!! Pay attention at the square near the train station,in front of the bus station

Bologna is a safe city overall, the problem is some areas in the evening, namely the Bolognina and Pilastro neighborhoods. In any case, I do not recommend walking late at night outside the city walls, it is better to take public transport/taxi/bike, since they are very efficient and safe. The areas to avoid in the evening inside the city walls unless there are events organized (such as concerts) are: Parco della Montagnola, Train Station, Piazza dei Martiri, Piazza 8 Agosto and the Sferisterio bus stop. I repeat Bologna in general is a safe city, but it is always better to be careful.

People say it’s one of the most dangerous cities in Italy, but I felt totally safe. The streets around the center are well-lit and I felt safe walking around. The city has a vibrant student area and lots of young people. Overall I had a great experience and felt right at home.

Overall safe, especially in the centre because it's uni students territory. There are a few neighborhoods that are not particularly safe to walk in alone at night, for example: - Central Train Station - Pilastro - Barca - Bolognina

Bologna is quite a safe place. Everywhere there are group of students which will always help you. There are just some places you must evitate at nieght: pilastro, barca, near scaravilli place (the place is ok, but the streets around could be dangerous), via mascarella are some of these

I recommend visiting Bologna, but not for more than 3 days. The city is nice, but it doesn’t have the unique atmosphere of other charming Italian towns. Prices are reasonable, and all the must-see spots are within walking distance. You can also take a direct fast train to Venice for a day trip — I highly recommend that. I felt safe in the city, so it’s a good option for a weekend trip

We stayed for one week and it was very nice because it was very safe. It’s a very tiny place so you can actually go from a point to another point very fast. We used taxis to go to our hotel and it was very safe. We used it when when it was night. I think the only thing is that people don’t really speak English and I think if you are a Muslim, it will also be hard because they mostly sell pork and sometimes it’s hard to find something halal. But the people are nice and everywhere you go is like a place that you can take a photo of it’s very pretty and I think if you search for somewhere that is calm and somewhere that you can be alone travelling it’s a perfect place.
