How safe is Jerusalem?

When you are a women and you are different in the view you will probably need to know people will comment at you,not necessarily in a sexual way but they will.i love my city but it’s something you need to consider if you decide to travel here.

Jerusalem is mostly safe for tourists the only danger is in places known to have strong political tension, I wouldn't worry about my physical safety if I'm only a tourist as those are not the type of people being targeted in the city.

Is Jerusalem worth visiting?

Travel rating

3.5 /5

based on 3 experiences from female travelers

Solo travel

I felt unease most of the time. While at salt lake, outside Jerusalem of course, perverts were taking pictures of naked women there. While back at the city, local markets kept flirting with me(I was below 18 yrs old), even when I said i had a partner. Also heard some racist things thrown around so it was just odd. Nature is stunning tho.

Group travel

I went in 2016, so I felt relatively safe. It was with a large, organized group, so there were other people around at all times. We stayed in a hotel and then mostly explored the city on foot. This city is truly unique and I will never forget my visit. There is so much to explore and admire, the three days we stayed felt insufficient. I would absolutely recommend you visit.
