Quite safe, not much to worry about except the birds that might steal your food. There are certain parts of the city that are full of robbers but it's usually far away from the center of the city. Might notice drunk and homeless people around at the center.
Posted: June 5, 2025Sofia is a nice city. It has like every city has some minor crime scenes but nothing that would make it unsafe or dangerous. It is a family friendly city with many different activities. I would definitely recommend also visiting near cities like Plovdiv or the mountains that it has

Sofia is overall a safe city, but it’s still very populated, so you have to be careful. People are very friendly, especially the girlies. You can always find a nice company of girls you can go out with. You have to be more cautious about the traffic, because there is a lot of car incidents.

Its pretty safe, especially in central part of the city, but you definitely need to know neighbourhoods you shouldnt visit even by day. Subway is open and works till midnight. Overall the feeling is good, i live here for last 10 years.
Posted: May 28, 2025For some people it's very safe but if you look a little bit more different you can maybe have some random people judging you, but mostly you have to be careful with the teenager group of people that became a lot lately and sadly they are the ones that cause problem. They are most likely to shout and provoke you but if you don't answer they are getting bored. Sofia it's pretty safe just keep that in mind. And mind that in Bulgaria the racism is sadly a lot. ://

Plovdiv like all places has some bad apples, there are some right wing extremists here, people claiming to be nazis. If you are a person of colour or someone who wears religious coverings you are more likely to feel some untoward behaviour and harassment.

Even though a few streets seemed sketchy literally nothing happened, the transportation was extremely well organized and not too overcrowded, plus even when it was nobody pushed personal boundaries. I stayed in an apparent next to the biggest square and it was amazing
Posted: May 12, 2025I felt safe, but I did not do a lot of things. I met cool people and tried some bars and a flea market. The problem was also the friends I visited on my stay, who did not make it easy. Overall I would recommend
