I believe that Buenos Aires can be dangerous, but it all depends on the area and the time. There are places where it is recommended to be very attentive at any time of the day. And there are also places where it is preferable not to walk alone at night. But there are also very calm areas.
Posted: January 27, 2025I live in a rather peaceful and educated area, the people there are quite friendly, but the economic situation creates lots of needs to steal :( I never got anything stolen yet though, but a lot of people I know had this experience. Now, if you are careful nothing shall happen ^^
Posted: January 26, 2025While in Buenos Aires you should always be careful. The most important thing is being aware of where you are going and paying attention to your belongings at almost all times. As a local, I have never experienced any unsafely situation, however, they are very common.
Posted: January 23, 2025I have never been robber or anything like that on the streets eventhough i do walk alone at diferent hours arround the city, even after dark. In 20 years there have only been 2 robbery atempts to My house, both of them failed due to our big dog and the safety protections we have like locking doors and window protections. I would consider the city safe enought to live as there is plenty of police officers and action arround, and safety things like video cameras in public transport and the streets constantly checked, which makes You fell safe. There haven't been kidnapping cases arround as much as i can remember and cryme/murdering levels are pretty low.

Coming from Ecuador which is really dangerous, I feel very safe in Buenos Aires. I’m not afraid of getting robbed at all, and the city is always awake, so you can safely walk alone during the night. There’s also public transport 24/7
Posted: January 10, 2025Cordoba is a safe place during the day and if you walk through public spaces or crowded ones. You are not likely to be kidnapped, but you should keep your phone hidden because there are many people waiting for the chance to rob it quickly

It depends on the area you are in, but the most worrying thing is the robberies that should not happen by avoiding certain areas and taking precautions. I lived here my whole life and a thief robbed me only once, he didn't even manage to rob me because the police were there but he tried...

It's safe if you aren't walking alone in the dark in areas that are either bad or popular with tourists. It's better if you aren't alone. However, someone can still steal your things, even in a club, and the police won't do anything about it as they don't care.
Posted: January 7, 2025The city is safe during the day but once it gets dark I don't recommend walking alone. It is also necessary to be careful if you use your cell phone on the street because it is very common for them to be stolen. I consider public transportation to be safe.
Posted: January 6, 2025During the day, the majority of the city is safe, there are many police officers in the streets (like maybe 2 per street). At night, I would recommend being accompanied or relying on taxi services in neighbourhoods such as San Telmo or La Boca. Overall, what you can fear the most are phone or bag-snatchings, pickpockets and some cases of street harassment can occur like in major cities, but locals (or police officers) can help you. Don't hesitate to ask for help if needed, including in shops for example and do not stay alone with your discomfort, speak in!

La Cumbresita is a lovely place to spend the day, walk, and go trekking to its waterfalls and explore its magical village. It is also recommended to visit the park, which can be reached for free by train from La Cumbresita to El Peñon.

Felt super safe, and hitchhiking is a great option if you are looking for a low budget trip. Furthermore, I would absolutely recommend when in Buenos Aires to grab some lunch at any self service restaurant by the Obelisco. It is incredibly cheep and the food is great. People are stunningly beautiful and nice, everybody I met was extra welcoming. We spent 30 days traveling by and the route we did and I suggest is starting by the territorial “end” of the country and “climb up”. So, a suggestion would be: Ushuaia El Calafate Bariloche (mind visiting nearby places there, such as El Bolsón) Neuquén Mar del Plata Buenos Aires
