I believe that Buenos Aires can be dangerous, but it all depends on the area and the time. There are places where it is recommended to be very attentive at any time of the day. And there are also places where it is preferable not to walk alone at night. But there are also very calm areas.
Posted: January 27, 2025I live in a rather peaceful and educated area, the people there are quite friendly, but the economic situation creates lots of needs to steal :( I never got anything stolen yet though, but a lot of people I know had this experience. Now, if you are careful nothing shall happen ^^
Posted: January 26, 2025While in Buenos Aires you should always be careful. The most important thing is being aware of where you are going and paying attention to your belongings at almost all times. As a local, I have never experienced any unsafely situation, however, they are very common.

Coming from Ecuador which is really dangerous, I feel very safe in Buenos Aires. I’m not afraid of getting robbed at all, and the city is always awake, so you can safely walk alone during the night. There’s also public transport 24/7

It depends on the area you are in, but the most worrying thing is the robberies that should not happen by avoiding certain areas and taking precautions. I lived here my whole life and a thief robbed me only once, he didn't even manage to rob me because the police were there but he tried...

It's safe if you aren't walking alone in the dark in areas that are either bad or popular with tourists. It's better if you aren't alone. However, someone can still steal your things, even in a club, and the police won't do anything about it as they don't care.
Posted: January 7, 2025During the day, the majority of the city is safe, there are many police officers in the streets (like maybe 2 per street). At night, I would recommend being accompanied or relying on taxi services in neighbourhoods such as San Telmo or La Boca. Overall, what you can fear the most are phone or bag-snatchings, pickpockets and some cases of street harassment can occur like in major cities, but locals (or police officers) can help you. Don't hesitate to ask for help if needed, including in shops for example and do not stay alone with your discomfort, speak in!
Posted: January 4, 2025it's ok, is a beautiful city with beautiful people but obviously has someone's whit bad intentions good people always exist, you have to searching the most danger you can expose is robbed, but in the capital always has police

Buenos Aires is a very big and beautiful city, although there are areas that are more dangerous than others, nothing will happen to you as long as you do not go into dangerous areas and at dangerous times (afternoon).

Buenos Aires is a very safe city for women, if you stay in CABA in the typical neighbourhoods is really okay, you just have to pay attention in the street, watch out with your phone, don't take your phone out in the middle of the street. Also feminism is VERY strong here, more than any country I have been :)

I am Brazilian, I stayed 30 days in Buenos Aires, and I felt safer than I would in the big cities of my country. Public transportation works very well, and the city has good infrastructure with sidewalks, parks, cafés, and pleasant places to walk around (this was my favorite part). Argentine beef and barbecue are incredible! However, I found everyday food to be nothing special. The bars and clubs there open very late at night, the party usually only stars at 1am and goes all the way to 5 or 6 am. And again, I felt safe walking alone at night in the nicer areas of the city. Here are some recommendations: - Feria de Mataderos: Definitely a MUST DO, it's every Sunday, very cultural, with live traditional music and street food. Around the square, there is the Museo Criollo de Los Corrales. Inside, there's an old bar where I found some gentlemen playing guitar; it was very touching. - El Boliche de Roberto: A bar with 130 years of history, with live tango literally every day of the week. The performances are very intimate and beautiful. - Bar El Federal: Great options for snacks, cheap wine, fair prices, beautiful decor, and the bar has over 100 years of history.

Buenos Aires is one of my favourite cities in the world! Full of life and cultural activities, it is the vibrant home of thousands of Argentinians (some of the kindest and most welcoming people I've ever met!). Of course, there are some areas you should avoid, especially at night, and should be aware of your surroundings at all times, but besides it did not feel particularly dangerous as a woman travelling solo! Would defenitely recommend!! (But pro tip: learn some basic Spanish first! ;))
