Algiers is an overall safe city. There are however some precautions to take especially in certain areas, it’s a Muslim country so it’s better to avoid light clothing. Nonetheless, during the day it’s completely okay to stroll especially downtown, however at night it’s better to be accompanied.

During day time, it's pretty safe if you stay in well populated areas and avoid the bad areas, you can commute safely without worrying at all whether on foot or in public transportation (beware of some pickpockets). It's generally not safe at all to take public transportation at night nor is it to walk outside after dark. It depends on the area though, some are very lively at night with great spots and restaurants and are pretty safe to be in but I would strongly suggest not going unless accompanied by a local who knows the safe places after dark. TLDR; Safety during day time: 8/10 (9.5/10 if you are in popular and well populated places) Safety during night time: 1/10 (just don't risk it, unless accompanied by a local)

Hey !!! 😆 I'm Yamina from Algiers! At 23 and still a student, I'm all about making mistakes to figure out who I am and explore myself ! Hahaha . I'm a travel enthusiast, art lover, and always up for discovering new places. Wandering the streets and soaking up the sun are my jams. Music is my constant companion; I listen to it all the time and adore attending concerts.
