Solo travel experience

Grenada is absolutely charming, I went there on my first solo trip and loved every minute. It is located right next to the Sierra Nevada mountains, and I spent one day on an amazing hike during sunset. It is also much more traditionally Spanish than some of the larger cities.

Solo travel experience

Of all the places I have visited in Spain (this was my 4th city), Granada was the least friendly for solo travelers. I was turned away from tables, and all food/wine tours required at least two people. These tours were my favorite way to connect with other travelers. This was discouraging and made me feel really unwanted. The city was very easy to traverse on foot, and the walk to Alhambra itself was beautiful (everything is uphill though, so bring good walking shoes with thick soles that can handle the cobblestone streets).
