Alina/Alice
Hi. I’m Alina from Romania. I have recently discovered solo traveling and it caught me. I like learning about all kind of cultures, cities and their architecture, art and history, especially because I am usually curious and I believe there’s always something interesting to discover. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their experiences. I always appreciate a good energy and reliability to a person. Looking forward to meet new people.

Bucharest is pretty much a safe city(except for maybe Gara de Nord and Ferentari neighborhood), easy to get around by metro, buses, trams, but my favorite way to move (especially at night) is by electric scooters - like Lime and Bolt, as they are the most efficient. Lots of new cool bars have opened recently - my favorite bars these days are Negroni Aperitivo Bar, Bar Ton, with prices ranging from 6 -10 euros per cocktail. If you feel like dancing Apollo 111 , Expirat Club and Control Club should do the trick, just check out their events online. During summer Sera Eden is a perfect spot, or J’ai Bistrot, as they have welcoming outdoor spaces. Some restaurants I like would be Arome ( all vegetarian menu), Wing Eat, Paine si Vin, Mom, Energiea, Centrale, Lente, Buoni e Bravi. Lots of good coffee shops as well: Bob, Origo, Meron, Beans’n’dots, Uzina Coffee. For me personally the best area to stay in is near Calea Victoriei and Cismigiu Park, as it’s in the center if the city, close to Old Town and many Bucharest sights - like the Romanian Atheneum, the National Art Museum, National History Museum.
Posted: February 20, 2024Bucharest is mostly safe for women, except the verbal harassment and cat calling can be annoying. Please use ubers instead of the yellow taxis, as those latter ones will try to trick foreigners into spending much more than they have to - sometimes even 10x more. Food is great, diverse and cheap. Everything is open until very late. Public transportation is subpar but there are plenty of ubers.

Bucharest is a pretty safe place, but you should be careful at night if you are not in the city center. Never take a normal taxi, always an uber or bilt from the airport ( you can also taje the train, in 20 min you will be at the trains station and it is less than 2 euros. The metro is the fastest way to move around the city, it is open until 23 in the evening
