Local experience

Zagreb is pretty safe fo female solo travelers. At night try to avoid non-lit alleyways. Pickpocketing is not really something to be afraid of but beware (as in every big city) Lower and Upper town are the most fun to stay at as they are full of culture, museums, restaurants, bars, clubs and they are safe to stay at too. Zagreb is pretty safe everywhere you stay. BE AWARE: there are a lot immigrants from Asia, Nepal, India etc. and they are everywhere, in every part of Zagreb, but city center is full of them. They don't talk to us, don't bother us, but if you don't like them and are not used to them try to avoid them at night. Steer clear of the area around Zagreb Bus Terminal and King Tomislav Square late at night. Some recommended restaurants in city center: • Nokturno € • Al Dente €€ • La Štruk € (to try štrulke) Outside of centre: • the best pizzeria is Duksa €€, • to try good balkan food is Sofra €€ Public transport consists of trams and buses. We don't have metro. You can go to every part of the city mosty by tram. There is Uber and Bolt and regular taxi(regular taxi is more expensive). Fun things to do in center: • visit fun museums as museum od Torture, museum of Hangover, Selfie museum • go to our cabel car and take a walk on Sljeme (wear appropriate clothes and footware) • be at Ban Jelačić square at exactly noon and then go to Kula Lotrščak to find out why • visit our market Dolac Fun things to do outside of center: • take a walk at the Park Maksimir • make a day trip in near city Samobor • discover Lake Jarun • visit Tesla's Museum

Solo travel experience

My first solo trip was to Zagreb. The city is very walkable and clean, and everything touristy is within a short distance. It has a great choice of museums, from the Chocolate Museum to the Museum of Broken Relationships (which turned out to be my favorite). Also stunning architecture. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe.

Solo travel experience

I was in zagreb for 2 days. It was pretty and there's a selection of things to do. If you like cats, there's a cat caffee (reasonably priced), a zoo and plenty of parks. Sadly a lot of the architectural buildings are being renovated and have been for 3 years but they are still nice to go see just a lot of scaffolding. There's an amazing food place called Kaptolska Klet the staff are wonderful :))
