Solo Female Travel in Saint Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, Russia, how safe you feel as a girl can depend a lot on which part of the city you're in. Some areas are really pretty at night, with well-lit streets and lots of people around, making you feel safe and comfortable. However, there are also parts of St. Petersburg that can feel scary, especially if you're alone after dark. For example: Even though Dumskaya street is in centre, there are a lot of drug addicts and strip clubs with a lot of freaks in there. All in all, St. Petersburg was always the most liberal part of Russia with a free spirit, but don’t forget that it is still…. In Russia. I’ve been sexually assaulted only 2 times outside and once it was in metro, so be careful. But I don’t have problems with walking alone

I lived in St Petersburg for 16 years and at night it can get dangerous in the areas where are not so many people and not in the centre, but nothing happened to me during few times I was walking alone at night, but be very careful. Definitely don’t stay to long at Dumskaya street because there are a lot of drug addicts and strip clubs even though it is in a cultural centre. Also don’t let anyone sell you tea on the Nevskii district! There are thieves who can suggest you to go with them, don’t agree. Also don’t take photos with people who dresses in different masquerade costumes who suggest you to take photos, they are also thieves. I highly recommend you SOUS (СОЮЗ) restaurant, it has the best atmosphere that USSR could have and high level service and food with a breathtaking view. I love my hometown and I wish it will keep its best and will make tourists happy and inspired!
