Texel is also famous for its sheep farming and the high-quality sheep's wool products. The traditional Dutch lifestyle there is complete with historic lighthouses, quaint villages, windmills, and museums such as the Maritime and Beachcombers Museum. The island also hosts a variety of local festivals and makes an idyllic destination for a tranquil getaway.

Texel is a safe travel destination for solo female travelers. The crime rate is almost non-existent, and the locals are friendly and cooperative. Emergency services are robust and easily accessible. The locals also speak English making communication very easy. Always remember to respect local customs and etiquette, and maintain common safety practices such as not displaying excessive valuables and being aware of your surroundings, especially at night.

Texel is quite convenient for solo travelers. It's small in size and there are several means of getting around such as biking, walking, or using the local buses. The availability of bike rentals and well-marked paths makes it a pleasant place for exploration. However, some distant attractions may not be as accessible without a vehicle.

Texel offers a variety of engaging activities that make it an intriguing place to visit. The island is home to numerous nature reserves, such as the Dunes of Texel, where one can enjoy bird watching, hiking, and taking in the relaxing natural scenery. For those interested in history, there are several museums, including the Maritime and Beachcombers Museum and the Aviation and War Museum. Animal lovers will enjoy Ecomare, a nature museum and seal sanctuary. Plus, the local breweries on the island offer tasty craft beers for gastro tourists. The beaches are also an inviting place to walk, swim, or simply relax. However, although public transportation is available, the necessity to rent a bicycle or a car to fully explore the island could be a downside for some.

Is Texel worth visiting?

Solo travel

I felt totally safe. All islanders are totally nice, speak English or German. Nature is beautiful, animals everywhere, especially sheep. There are more sheep on Texel than people, so you can find small lambs at any time of the year. On the west side are white beaches and impressive dunes. And in the east is in the Wadden Sea with a great bike path along. Perfect for recreation. As everywhere in the Netherlands, there is at least one mini campsite in almost every village. The ones I visited all clean and quiet. Texel is perfect for learning to surf through the mostly gentle but cold North Sea. The lighthouse in the far north is enchanting and definitely worth a climb.

Hi sisters, i'm Lisa and I live on the beautiful island of Texel in the Netherlands. I met some lovely sisters on my last trip and definitely want to meet some more. I don't know if there even are people on this app that know the island, but lets give it a try :) I'm also able to come to Amsterdam, Haarlem or Alkmaar or maybe another dutch city. Its a pity that I can't host someone at the moment, otherwise I invited you all to come visit the island! I'm a very easy going, polite, funny and talkative girl who loves it to be around people. I actually like a lot of things.. going for a walk, spend time in nature, explore new places, listen to some good music or have a good conversation over a cup of tea.
