Safety:Safe

Pokhara is a safe city for solo female travelers. The locals are generally very kind, welcoming, and respectful towards women. However, like anywhere else in the world, it requires basic precautionary steps. Avoid walking alone late at night in isolated areas and always keep your belongings secure. Public transportation is reliable but it's best to arrange taxi services from your hotel if you need to travel in the evening.

Transport:Moderate

Pokhara is a pretty easy city to get around. The city center is compact, making it quite walkable. However, if you wish to check out sights further away, such as the Peace Stupa or the caves, you'll need to hire a cab or take a bus, which can be a bit challenging as English is not widely spoken. It's essential to plan ahead and possibly hire a guide for ease of navigation.

Things to do:Interesting

Pokhara offers a wealth of activities for solo female travelers. You can experience the thrill of paragliding overlooking the fascinating panoramic mountain views, or indulge in tranquility by the Phewa lake. Adventure seekers can go for trekking in the Annapurna circuit. Pokhara also offers caves like the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave for exploration and temples such as Tal Barahi for the spiritual enthusiast. You can also engage in sunrise viewing at Sarangkot or boating in Begnas Lake. However, the city lacks a bit in the nightlife scene and luxury shopping and dining experiences.

Food:Above average

Pokhara offers a delightful range of multicultural foods catering to both Eastern and Western preferences. From traditional Nepali thalis to freshly baked Italian pizzas, the food scene enjoys a great variety. Additionally, you will find ample vegetarian and vegan options. The local cuisine embraces a strong influence of spices, herbs, and grains, truly reflecting the rich Nepalese culture. Nonetheless, hygiene standards might deviate from Western norms and the variety, while significant, isn't exhaustive. Overall, Pokhara promises a satisfying culinary experience.

Budget:Affordable

Pokhara is a fairly budget-friendly destination as it offers a wide range of accommodations, from affordable hostels to higher-range hotels. You can eat well at cost-effective prices since there are many local eateries offering delicious traditional meals. Public transportation and local attractions are also reasonably priced. However, adventure activities such as paragliding or trekking packages could raise your overall expenses depending on your preferences.

Solo travel experience

I stayed at an backpackers hostel internet middle of the tourist area, you meet a lot of people to spent time and travel further with, there is a lot of nature around the city, you can go for a hike, spend time at the lake and eat good food. There is also a party area if you are into the night life and many hanging bridges connecting you to the smaller villages to get to know the local people.
