How safe is Pokhara?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

While Pokhara has a reputation for being safer than many cities, caution at night is advised. The streets are generally deserted after dark and the few people that are out can pose potential risks. Make sure you take a reliable taxi if you have to move around at night and avoid walking alone in isolated areas.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Moderate

Public transportation in Pokhara is generally safe during the day; however, it may not be very reliable since schedules can be erratic and vehicles are often crowded. Local buses, taxis and rickshaws are the common means of public transport. Taxis are considered safer, especially for solo female travelers, but always negotiate fares before the journey. Crime levels are relatively low, but pickpocketing can occasionally occur, as in any other tourist destination. Also, drivers can be reckless, leading to a higher risk of accidents. Therefore, extra caution and awareness of your surroundings are recommended while using public transportation in Pokhara.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Pokhara is considered to be a safe city for solo female travelers. Unlike bigger, bustling cities, Pokhara has a calmer and more relaxed vibe which contributes to its security. However, like any other destination, it's important to be cautious and aware of your surroundings. Instances of street harassment are comparatively low, but not entirely absent. The local people are generally friendly and respectful, but always keep your guard up and avoid isolated areas especially after dark.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Petty crime like pickpockets or bag-snatching is relatively low in Pokhara. Being a tourist destination, local authorities and businesses work hard to ensure safety of visitors. It is still important to stay vigilant and practice good safety measures such as not leaving belongings unattended, but overall the city is quite safe in terms of petty crime.
Tap water:

Tap water:Unsafe

Drinking tap water in Pokhara can present health risks as it may not be treated adequately and can potentially harbor harmful bacteria and parasites. It is generally advised to avoid consuming tap water directly, opting for bottled water or treating the water with filtration systems, boiling, or water purifying tablets instead.

Solo travel experience

I stayed at an backpackers hostel internet middle of the tourist area, you meet a lot of people to spent time and travel further with, there is a lot of nature around the city, you can go for a hike, spend time at the lake and eat good food. There is also a party area if you are into the night life and many hanging bridges connecting you to the smaller villages to get to know the local people.
