Namibia was ok. It's a very sparse country that is mostly desert. The main capital, Windhoek, is quaint with lots of museums to visit. The cuisine isn't extraordinarily different either a few game meats here and there. It's very much for adventure seekers who enjoy desert landscapes. The beach is nice with chilly weather.

Namibia is a very safe country. Just be careful on the gravel roads. Most areas you do not need vaccination. I visited Namibia about 8 times. If you like to have any advise I am happy to help you. I also worked as a volunteer on a horse farm there.
Posted: March 6, 2024Etosha National park is a must to visit in Namibia. You can visit it by self-driving, it’s very safe and well signalized. This is mostly a desertic landscape but you can easly see a lot of animal (lions, elephants, girafes … Don’t hesitate to go every one or two hours close to the main water point to see animals.
Posted: January 29, 2024I was in Namibia this year. I felt completely safe. Wonderful people. Surprisingly clean for Africa. Amazing nature. I highly recommend it, although it might turn out to be costly.
Posted: October 12, 2023Namibia is not particularly favorable for solo travelers. It's a vast desert, where often for hundreds of kilometers there are no gas stations, shops or villages. Namibia is the second least populated country in the world, after Mongolia. Public transportation only operates on the main road and at the borders.

Swakopmund felt like a small town being so sparsely populated. The locals were friendly, and there was no public transportation so walking is essential here. I traveled alone and felt safe here, even walking after sunset. Later at night the streets are very empty, so walking with a group felt more secure.

Pretoria generally offers a moderate level of safety for tourists, but caution is advised. Petty crime like pickpocketing and bag snatching is common, especially in crowded areas. Violent crime rates are higher in certain areas, so it's crucial to be aware of your surroundings, avoid isolated areas, especially at night, and use reputable transportation. As a resident here, I haven't experienced any issues over the past year.

Most recently I went from the Himalayas to Argentina, Uruguay, the Falklands, South Georgia Islands, Antarctica, hitchhiking from Argentina through Chile and north. Three months in Colombia.
