Is Herceg Novi good for solo travel?

Safety:Very safe

Herceg Novi is generally very safe for solo female travelers. The locals are friendly and typically quite helpful to tourists. The town is small and walkable, and there's a low crime rate. Remember to exercise common precautions, just as you would traveling anywhere else.

Herceg Novi is a relatively small coastal town and navigating through it is quite straightforward. Most attractions are within walking distance and the terrain is hilly but manageable. However, for areas with steep climbs, one may need to rely on local taxis or buses. Signage is up-to-standard and locals are friendly and helpful if you need directions.
Things to do:

Things to do:Interesting

Herceg Novi is full of life and has a wide array of activities for solo female travelers. You can enjoy exploring the ancient fortresses, citadels, lovely coastal areas, and mystical gardens such as the famous Savina Monastery. Also nestled beautifully within the city are cosy cafes and restaurants where you can try traditional Montenegrin cuisine. However, the city might be on steep terrain which could present a slight challenge to some.

Food:Above average

The food scene in Herceg Novi is delightful and diverse. As a coastal town, there is a rich variety of Mediterranean seafood on offer, all fresh and locally sourced. Traditional Montenegrin food is a blend of Italian, Turkish, and Hungarian influences which makes it intriguing and an exciting culinary adventure. However, one can also find international cuisines, including Western-style pizza or fast food chains. Yet, being a smaller town, the range and depth might not be as broad as larger international cities.

Herceg Novi is generally budget-friendly for travelers. Accommodation and local food are affordable, and most of the attractions either have a low-entry fee or are completely free. Public transportation within the city is also inexpensive. However, certain activities and excursions may be pricier. Generally, the cost of living and traveling in Herceg Novi is lower compared to many other European cities.
