Is Erbil Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Erbil, being the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, is generally more stable and safer than many other parts of Iraq. However, safety conditions can change rapidly. It's important to be vigilant due to occasional incidents related to security and you may face additional challenges being a solo female traveler. The area is not used to see many female travelers, so this might attract undue attention. It is vital to respect local customs and clothing requirements to minimize any potential risk. There is a presence of international and local security services but they may not be immediately accessible or provide the same standards of assistance as in more developed countries.

How safe is Erbil for solo female travelers?

Is Erbil safe for women?

Erbil is a very safe city as it is filled with Arabs, Kurds as well as plenty of foreigners. It is a very developed city and yet sets its boundaries with women. In public transport, men stand up for women if there isn't a seat available. Also they prefer to sit alone or with a man rather than a woman to keep their distance. Almost everywhere everyone treats each other with great respect and hospitality

About me

I just joined💅💅 I’m Nihad ✨ If a trip doesn’t involve a massive adrenaline rush by day and a dance floor by night, is it even a vacation? 🤷‍♀️🔥 I’m always down for wild adventures, hunting for the ultimate sunset view, and walking around not knowing the final destination. Back home, I’m a full-time mom to my two cat children (yes, they are my actual babies 🐾). Looking for my next travel squad to chase thrills, dress up, and make some unforgettable memories! ✈️🥂💃
