Is Patras safe for solo female travelers?

Patras is generally a very safe city, with friendly and helpful locals. Like most places, it has its share of petty crime, but violent crime is extremely rare. However, as a solo female traveler, it's always advisable to exercise common precautions such as avoiding less crowded and dimly lit areas late at night. It's also advised to keep your belongings secure, particularly in touristy areas where pickpocketing can occur. But rest assured, most visits here are trouble-free.

Patras is a safe place at all. It’s a small city between mountains and sea, with a good transportation system (bus+train) and quite people. Streets are safe and bad incidents are isolated. As a student here for 4 years, I never worried about my safety!

Overall safe place, of course some areas are quite sketchy, especially at night. City center is mostly safe as well, pickpocketing is not so common. Still as a female I would be cautious walking alone at night.

Patras is a lively coastal city with a big student population, tons of universities, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains nearby. The city is buzzing every day, with shops open until late and endless opportunities to meet new people (and party together!). It’s generally a safe place, but as in any city, sticking to well-lit central streets is always a good idea.

Patras is a medium safe place were u can actually find people to stick with. There are some bars that u would feel safer than other bars. People are most of the times kind and open. Students population is big, and so are the things happening/organised by them.

Patra is a student city, with one of the larger universities of Greece. That why when you are out (Mostly in the center of the city) you are never alone, there is always a group of students out and about, that because of the student culture of Greece, are pretty vigilant about protecting others. The only thing that you must be a bit careful about is that in high visit seasons there are a good amount of drunk students that can be a little bit annoying, but nothing really dangerous (from my experience).

About me

I am a medical student from Greece, studying at the University of Patras since 2021. Greek is my maternal language and I also speak English fluently, intermediate French and a little bit of Spanish.I am lucky enough to travel from a young age with my parents and now I have the chance to do it on my own. I have seen couple of European cities such as Marseille, Nice, Cannes, Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Belgrade, Niš, Sofia, Nicosia, Amsterdam, Prague and a great part of Italy(Milan, Verrona, Venice, Bergamo and many Sicilian cities). I'm open from showing around and catching up in the beautiful city of Patras to even provide a place to stay in my apartment🌼❤
