Things to do:Moderate
Banlung offers a moderately engaging travel experience. Known for its relaxed atmosphere, untouched nature and indigenous tribes, it is an unexplored gem lying in the northeastern part of Cambodia. It is the gateway to Virachey National Park, which offers rewarding trekking opportunities through dense forests, rivers and rolling hills, and is home to several endangered species. Waterfall chasers will love Cha Ong, Ka Tieng, and Kinchaan, some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. The Yeak Loam Volcanic Lake, which is almost a perfect circle due to its volcanic origin, is a serene and beautiful sight to behold. Visitors can also explore local markets to purchase handcrafted items and get acquainted with the Ratanakiri's hill tribes. Although not bustling with activities, Banlung has enough for those willing to delve into nature and local culture. However, it should be noted that remote, off-beat places like this might not appeal to everyone and therefore the rating is set to you liking it if you are at ease with tranquility, nature and local tribe exploration.
