I’ve been to Cambodia twice. Of the 50 countries I’ve been to, it’s easily in my top 3. I love it. No scams. Kind people. Angkor is beautiful. The history of the country made my heart hurt but it’s important to know about it.
Posted: April 23, 2023I went to Cambodia solo and loved it. Siem Reap felt like the safest place in Cambodia to me. Tuk Tuks were available everywhere and didn't cost much at all, I preferred using them over walking just because the roads were hectic.
Posted: March 11, 2023I was traveling solo in May/June last year. I’ve felt extremely safe, no issues whatsoever (visited phnom penh, siem reap, kampot, koghrong samloem, kep). I was taking the night bus and tuk-tuk in the middle of the night in PP and had no issues although obviously not the safest thing to do generally. I was only made aware by locals to watch out for my phone being stolen in the street while walking around PP - basically don’t hold it on display so that people on scooters can just take it out of your hand. I loved the people and enjoyed it so much.
Posted: February 17, 2023Cambodia is very safe to travel. The people are amazing, & among the hardest working I have ever met. My friend and I did 2 days in Phnom Penh and 3 days in Siem Reap which houses Angkor Wat. Phnom Penh: Killing Fields is a must-see because of the history. The Royal Palace, & the riverside are gorgeous. The museum has dance performances in the evening. Lovely. Siem Reap: Get the 3-day pass, & you get to visit the fantastic temple complexes all around Angkor Wat too. Do: Try the Amok - the signature Cambodian dish, usually made with fresh fish. Have a lot of coconut water & palm juice. Hygienic, refreshing, hydrating. In general, the Khmer people are very hygiene conscious & mindful of western standards of cleanliness. Shop at Senteurs D’Angkor, for the most amazing candles/handmade soaps/high quality spices etc.
