Is Togo safe for solo female travelers?

Togo is a country that offers a vibrant culture and stunning landscapes. However, for solo female travelers, it poses a moderate risk. It is advised to always stay vigilant for pickpocketing and petty theft, especially in busy urban areas, markets, and transportation hubs. It is advisable not to travel alone at night. Sexual harassment can occasionally occur, so dressing modestly can help reduce unwanted attention. Always hire credible guides for city tours or visiting remote areas. It is highly recommended to assist in group tours in order to ensure more safety. However, with the correct precautions and respect for local culture, a safe and rewarding travel experience is possible.

Lome, Solo travel

I recently traveled to Lomé, Togo, and had a mixed but overall positive experience. While some locals were incredibly nice and helpful, I did encounter a few who expected payment for their assistance. However, the nonprofit organization I visited during my humanitarian efforts, was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making my time there rewarding.

About me

Hello traveling Ladies I am living in Lomé the capital of Togo with my husband and our daughter. We are a mix family French and Togolese, able to speak French and English. I am a psychologist. Travel Ladies is new for me, but I am on couchsurfing since I was a student... https://couchsurfing.page.link/XRLtpsh1EphfdT51A So I am happy to discover this app and participate. It's still a joy to host people from around the world at home. Between ladies it seems more safe and like a huge sisterhood. Currently I am traveling with my 13 years old daughter for a year. A big trip to discover different cultures, people, way of life ... We are so grateful for all the wonderful people we met. See you soon Ladies
