How safe is Nassau?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Unsafe

Nassau presents some safety issues for solo female travelers, especially at night. It is advisable to avoid walking alone after dark, particularly in less crowded areas. Take care in all parts of the island and stick to the tourist areas. Always use licensed taxis and take care when using public transport. Be vigilant and take sensible precautions to protect yourself and your belongings.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Moderate

Public transportation in Nassau is reasonably safe. Buses and taxis are relatively reliable means of transportation during the day. However, less frequent services and isolated stops might pose a risk during late-night hours, so plan your journeys accordingly and try to avoid travelling alone after dark. Always ensure that the taxi you ride in is licensed. Like any other place, staying alert and using common sense can greatly enhance your safety.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Street harassment in Nassau, is generally minimal. While it's always crucial to stay alert and aware of your surroundings, single female travelers typically report feeling safe in populated and tourist-heavy areas. Unsolicited attention can occur, as anywhere, but it's generally not severe or overly aggressive. However, be prepared for potential encounters, particularly at crowded local markets or during major events.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:High

Nassau has a moderately high rate of petty crime. Potential issues include pickpocketing, purse snatching, and theft from unattended vehicles or beach locations. As a solo female traveler, it's essential to keep personal belongings secure, avoid showing expensive possessions in public, and be aware of your surroundings at all times. These steps can significantly reduce your risk.

Is Nassau worth visiting?

Group travel

Overall a good trip, the accommodation was close to the cruise port which got very busy during the time cruise ships were in port. The beaches are very loud and busy, and not the most clean in this area due to the tourists. The west side of the island of Nassau is less busy with significantly fewer tourists. Overall a lot cleaner as well and the beaches are quiet, clean white sand. Given the option, this side would be a better area to stay if you are not looking for nightlife or day partying. Locals are very friendly and helpful although catcalling is highly prevalent.
