Vitoria-Gasteiz is a very calm city, generally you can walk anywhere from the city centre and it has a lot of "red roads" for cycling. I moved here to study at University 10 years ago and I always found it very comfortable and safe, even when I went out with my friends at night.

It is overall a safe city, as any other place there are some blackspots that are more dangerous, especially at night. During daytime you may suffer verbal harassement if you go sexy and alone (because sexism) but that's the worst that may happen and most people will help you.
