Is Santa Marta safe for solo female travelers?

Santa Marta generally has a secure environment with lower crime rates compared to other European cities. Locals are typically welcoming towards travelers and are willing to help if needed. However, as with any destination, normal precautions should be taken. Be aware of your surroundings particularly when travelling at night and in crowded places as petty crimes like pickpocketing can occur, but these are not commonplace. It's also advised to keep expensive belongings out of sight. That being said, many solo female travelers have had great experiences exploring the city's history and culture.
