This city is really nice and living. I worked there for 6 weeks and as Young lady I never felt unsafe. What I particulary like is that there’s a plenty of activities to chose of ;) I Would recommand you going there and pick up a nice hostel nearby the beach la cicer.

In Gran Canaria, I feel safe both day and night. The restaurants and cafes are not expensive. I have a friend in Gran Canaria, so I spend my money only on food. The beach, Las Canteras, is magical and the best for swimming.

Las Palmas (like nearly all of Spain) is a very safe city! I’ve lived here for several months and always feel comfortable, even walking alone at night. I have not heard stories of pick pocketing like when I lived in Madrid and Valencia, but of course it’s smart to always be careful. There is lots to do in and near Las Palmas - beautiful beaches, surfing, hiking, and great restaurants and bars!

The main problem we have here is with drugs, young people will often consume in a way or another but still have perfectly normal lives. I guess that happens in all cities. It is also worth mentioning the increase of immigration we are receiving and general discomfort from some of the locals since we have also been simultaneously experiencing an increase in the violent crimes in the island which has led to some racism as well. In general it is incredibly safe for tourists so y'all have nothing to worry about.
Posted: January 25, 2026The city is very safe and peaceful, a good place to live, the people are friendly and can help you if you run into trouble. I have been living here for 1 year and so far I haven't had any problems.

I’d say Las Palmas is quite safe! Even though I wouldn’t dare walking by myself through the city after midnight… But I think it applies to any other city in the world. Gran Canaria in general is quite a safe place. As a women, especially of different etnicity, you might get some inappropriate comments from men sometimes.

We are women in this world. Is never 100% safe but it gets pretty close. I fell safe walking home late at night. I have never been robbed or physically attacked. Is pretty safe........................

It’s a safe place, but there are places like San Telmo where are a little dangerous at night. But in general it’s a very safe city with a lot of polices, the best places to stay are Canteras Beach at night because there are a lot of tourists here and there are a lot of people in the street.
