Is Gijon safe for solo female travelers?

Gijón, Spain is generally considered safe for solo female travelers. As with any city, it's important to maintain common sense regarding personal security and belongings, especially at night and in crowded tourist areas. Violent crime is rare, but pickpocketing can occur. The city center and beach areas are well lit and usually crowded, which adds to the feeling of safety. The residents are friendly and hospitable, and the city itself has a strong police presence.

How safe is Gijon for women?

Very safe, I would just try to avoid La Calzada and the train station at night. Be also careful with your belongings at San Lorenzo beach if you go for a swim on Summer. Apart from that you can trust people. They are very friendly.

I have here for more than 7 months and haven't heard a single story of violence or theft or any crime for that matter. Judging by the period I have stayed, it is the safest places for sure. In fact, it's a very small and beautiful and relatively quite town. Everyone instantly falls in love with the serenity of this little place.

About me

I have lived in several cities in northern Spain and in London. I would love to meet people who are in Gijón to get together and go for a walk or go somewhere. I love travelling and would like to explore new cites.
