Denia is generally a very safe place for solo female travelers. Crime rates are relatively low compared to many major cities, and the locals are known for their friendliness and helpfulness. Public transportation is reliable and safe even at night. How safe is Denia?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Denia, being a touristic city in Spain, is generally safe at night. Tourists, even solo travelers, frequent the area without major safety issues. However, like anywhere else, it is important to stay alert, avoid less crowded areas especially late at night, and adapt good personal safety practices. Keep your belongings close to avoid potential pickpockets.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Denia's public transportation, which includes bus lines and trams, is generally safe. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the service is reliable. However, during peak tourist season or late at night, you might encounter minor safety concerns such as pickpocketing, although these incidents are rare. Keep your possessions close to you and remain aware of your area, just to be cautious.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Denia is generally a welcoming and safe place for solo female travelers. Street harassment is not a commonly reported issue here. People are usually respectful, making it a comfortable location for solo travel. However, as anywhere else in the world, it’s always important to stay mindful of your surroundings and take basic precautionary measures.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Denia is known for its safety and friendly inhabitants. Issues like pickpocketing or bag snatching are rare but can occur, as in any tourist destination. It's still crucial to be cautious, especially in busy areas. However, the overall risk of petty crimes is not a major concern here.
Tap water:

Tap water:Very safe

Tap water in Denia is deemed safe for drinking and mostly comes from the nearby mountains, which provide natural filtration. The city's advanced treatment systems further ensure its cleanliness, and it's regularly tested in accordance with European Union standards. Nevertheless, some visitors may notice a different taste due to its high mineral content, a common characteristic of water in many parts of Spain. If you're not fond of the taste, bottled water is easily available, but there's no health-related reason to avoid consuming tap water in Denia.

Is Denia worth visiting?

Family travel experience

We did a 2 week vacation in the Montgo area of Denia party of three adults. We‘re part spanish part german origin and have traveled and lived both in spain and a lot of other countries. We chose Denia because we didn‘t know it yet and were recommended the nice beaches here. Which we enjoyed quite a bit, especially this time of the year- still warm but not too crowded anymore. Now the not so nice details; i was astonished with the accomodation prices before hand already.. resuming I‘d say there‘s really nicer places/beaches etc in europe to visit for that kind of value for money… I don‘t even want to imagine the place in aug/sept. Driving (we went with own car) is still exhausting, with all the crossing street walkers, traffic lights & road obsticals (to make traffic go slow). To still find typical options to have the typical cafe, food or icecream you really need to have local advice or search google for felt ages (annoying!) most of the options are quite touristy far from what we know normal spain for. All in all i personally will rather avoid the visited sites (Denia, Calpe, Benidorm, Gandia) in the future and turn to less crowded areas of Spain
