How safe is Benalmadena?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Benalmadena generally has a safe and tranquil atmosphere at night. Security is well-managed around the high tourist areas, and locals are known to be welcoming and friendly. However, as with any destination, it is highly recommended to stay alert and conscientious, particularly during the later hours. Main streets are well-lit and usually populated until late, giving an added sense of security while strolling alone after dark. Nonetheless, it's best to avoid quiet or poorly lit areas to ensure absolute safety.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Benalmadena is quite safe. The city's bus and train services are generally reliable. The drivers and staff are helpful, particularly towards tourists. However, like any other place, remain cautious of your belongings, especially in crowded situations.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Compared to many other European locations, Benalmadena in Spain manifests a relatively low degree of street harassment. As a female solo traveler, you can enjoy the town's beauty and attractions comfortably during day time. However, it's always wise to exercise common vigilance particularly in crowded locations and late at night. Many local men are respectful, but unwanted attention can still occur, though not widespread.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Benalmadena is generally a safe place for solo female travelers with regards to petty crimes such as pickpocketing or purse snatching. However, as in any travel destination, it is always advisable to be cautious and aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded or touristy areas. Make sure to keep an eye on your belongings at all times and avoid showing valuable items in public. Always trust your instincts and if a person, place, or situation makes you uncomfortable, remove yourself immediately.

Is Benalmadena worth visiting?

Couple travel

In May I was for 7 day break in Benalmadena. The town caters for all ages. Local bars at the far end of the resort like Nico's and the Halfpenny Bridge and for that sofisicated night cap there's the Art cafe. Buses along the costa route are cheap and not busy at this time of year. Taxis are resonable. If you want to rent a car beware parking along the coast, it's a nightmare. Like most resorts pickpockets are a problem especially at bus stops taxi ranks or anywhere busy (markets) just be practical and you'll be fine. Overall a great resort that you can have what you want quite/relaxed or loud/ crazy and the people are really honest and helpful.

Solo travel

Amazing place with lovely beaches and good food. The restaurants in the local area are cheaper than on the beach (I would recommend to go to Arroyo de la miel). Cheap public transportation if you buy travel card from tobacco shop (normally you can pay with cash only). Don't miss out the Castillo de Colomares, the Cable car, the butterfy park, the Stupa and the Parque Paloma if you visit Benalmadena.
