How safe is Lahore?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Unsafe

Though Lahore has an awe-inspiring cultural vibrancy and historical significance, it's generally not recommended for women to walk alone at night. Even if heavily populated areas might be relatively safer, it is always better to avoid unnecessary risks, especially at night. Moreover, cultural norms around women, especially foreign women, walking alone at night could attract unwanted attention. It is advisable to hire a reliable guide or use a safe mode of transportation after sunset for the best possible security.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Moderate

Public transportation in Lahore is a mix of buses, taxis, rickshaws, and ride-hailing apps like Uber and Careem. Buses tend to be crowded and may not always follow set schedules. Taxis and rickshaws are reliable but ensure the driver turns on the meter or negotiate the fare before starting the ride. Ride-hailing apps are generally considered the safest and most reliable option, particularly for solo female travelers as they provide details about the driver and the trip. It's advisable to stay alert at all times and avoid traveling alone at late hours.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Moderate

Lahore, being one the largest cities in Pakistan, can be a mixed experience. Instances of street harassment do exist, as in any large city globally. Although most locals are very respectful, there will always be individuals who might behave inappropriately. Pakistan is a conservative society and it's recommended to dress modestly to avoid unnecessary attention. Do not be afraid to speak up or seek help from the local police if faced with street harassment. Learning a few basic local phrases can also be beneficial. Moreover, preferring crowded and tourist-frequented areas, especially during the daytime, can reduce the risk of harassment.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Moderate

Lahore, is generally safe for solo female travelers in terms of petty crimes, but it is still advisable to take preventative measures. These crimes, including pickpocketing and purse-snatching, are generally less common in crowded or well-guarded places like marketplaces or tourist attractions. Although it's relatively safe, remaining vigilant and taking precautions like not carrying large sums of money, keeping valuables hidden, and being cautious in crowded places, can significantly reduce the likelihood of falling victim to petty crime.

I think Lahore is one of the safest cities in Pakistan due to it being the most developed city in the country. We also have our first female Chief Minister of the province so the city is slowly and steadily improving in terms of gender equality.

Lahore is a beautiful beau city to travel but I would prefer to travel with some company. You can travel alone but it depends on the area you are planning to visit. Most are safe, Some are safer and some are less safer. So take guidelines from the residents before deciding to travel alone or with a friend.
