However, as a solo female traveler, it is recommended to avoid less crowded, remote areas and traveling late at night. Also, acquiring a little knowledge of the local language could be handy as English is not widely spoken.

How safe is Moldova?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Moldova is considered a moderate safety destination for nighttime activities. As a solo female travelling, common precautions should suffice such as staying in well-lit areas, avoiding unpopulated spots, and using reliable transportation when necessary. Definitely, you must stay alert and keep your belongings close to you at all times. However, given Moldova's generally peaceful nature, incidents are relatively low compared to more tumultuous regions.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

While traveling in Moldova, public transportation is generally considered reasonably safe. Buses, minibuses, and trams are the most common modes of transport, especially in the cities like Chisinau. Street harassment:Low

Moldova has a lower prevalence of street harassment compared to some countries. While walking alone during the day in many cities is usually safe, it's important to stick to well-lit and populated areas. As with anywhere, it's not uncommon for some unwanted attention, especially in crowded places like markets, trains, and bus stations. However, most of the locals are respectful and friendly. Remember, always trust your instincts and avoid getting into situations that make you feel uncomfortable no matter where you are.

As a solo female traveler in Moldova, it's important to be aware of the relatively high prevalence of petty crimes. These include pickpocketing and bag-snatching, particularly in urban areas or crowded places like markets or public transportation. Chisinau

Hi, everyone! I wanna say a few words about Chishiau, the city which I visit often. It’s a normal city that I find even a bit boring for myself. It has very good places to eat, quite save means of transport and taxi. Of course as a woman I have instinctive fears about being robed and assaulted but every time I visit this place it is good and not dangerous, you just have to be careful as when you visit any other city with good safety level

Chisinau

Chisinau is actually quite a safe city. It’s generally very safe to walk around during the day, and even at night — although there are a few things to keep in mind. In some neighborhoods, it’s better not to walk alone, but if you're with company, it’s usually fine. The main and side streets are well-lit. Areas with the most tourists are always brightly lit and busy, especially in the evenings, so you can relax and not worry too much about your safety. As for taxis, there’s nothing major to worry about either, except for the occasional overly aggressive driver (rare, but it can happen). Crime does happen, but it’s very rare. Still, despite the city being mostly calm, it’s wise to stay alert and cautious in certain areas — even during the day.
