Is Malaysia safe for solo female travelers?

Malaysia is generally safe for solo female travelers. There's a high level of security in the main cities and tourist areas. Malaysian people are generally friendly and hospitable towards foreigners. However, like all destinations, it's advisable to exercise caution, particularly when traveling alone. Stick to well-lit, populated places, especially at night, and keep an eye on your belongings at all times. While petty crime such as pickpocketing or bag-snatching can occur, this is not common, and vigilance can reduce risk significantly.

Kuala Lumpur, Solo travel

This was the first foreign country I’ve ever visited, and I really enjoyed my time here. I think I’ll come back someday. Even though I traveled solo, I felt safe and comfortable. Maybe because it’s a neighboring country, but the food, accommodation, and especially the travel costs were affordable for me.

Malaysia, Solo travel

Malaysia was a beautiful and diverse experience, combining modern cities with rich culture and nature. I enjoyed the mix of traditions, delicious food, and the friendliness of the people but what I enjoyed the most was how all the different cultures and religions live together without a problem ❤️ Getting around was easy, and the country felt welcoming and well organized, making it a comfortable and memorable place to explore.

Kuala Lumpur, Solo travel

I was lucky enough to be hosted by my Chinese friend in Puchong. We would get around by car. I wouldn't recommend walking because there are not many places to walk to. As a European it was quite a shocking thing. I love walking. If you want to have fun, there are organised activities to visit the jungle, or you could just chill at the numerous shopping malls around the city. Malaysian Ringgits are weak, so 40 euros were 200 MYR. Food is great. Please try Durian, it's a smelly fruit, either you love it or hate it 😄

Kuala Lumpur

I think still need to take self precaution, and bring around pepper spray or any tool to defence ourselves. I had experienced at klcc park if we women go for a walk alone to get some air, there is always strange guy coming after you, its not like you can think of it as compliment but they are scary@pervert that I had to report to the police at the park.

Kuala Lumpur

Very safe just avoid dark hidden places at night. Be careful with your belongings, I have heard some can try to steal wallets but never have happened to me and I have lived here more than 3 years. Of course after 1 am maybe careful in areas were not too many people

Selangor

Generally safe, although not pedestrian friendly (recommend to drive or take a taxi, or use the public transport) as there are little to no walkways available for pedestrians. Cross roads only when the traffic lights turn green for pedestrians, as cars will not give way to pedestrians
