Last week my friends and i went to travel Riga, Old Town. We really love the atmosphere, history, buildings and the culture. We visited the Christmas market for the first time in our lives. Even if the city was so cold we enjoyed so much.

While in Riga I stayed in the Blue Bird Hostel in the old city. The city felt pretty safe to walk around, although I didn't stay out very late. I really recommend the Art Nouveau neighborhood. I'm not aware of any museums since I had no time to visit one but simply walking around is very pleasant

I went Latvia for Erasmus and it was the best thing I’ve ever experienced. I’ve never felt safe and peaceful anywhere. You can enjoy the clubs and even after 4 am you can walk to your place ALONE. I’ve done that many times and it’s really safe. The people are really friendly and open to new experiences. I was never bored. The only thing is in the winter it’s always snowing so if you don’t like I wouldn’t recommend but other than that everything was good

It is pretty safe and chill around Riga. I never had bad experiences coming home late at nights. Still safe to stay far from the main train station (Origo) to avoid drunk people. But no need to worry otherwise

daugavpils is okay, but you must be careful with languages you talk with others. also, if you are going out at night, it better to take second person, but overall it is okay. never in my life had any problems with strangers there

The city centre that, as a tourist, you would likely to visit are very safe - Old Riga and central Riga with shops, cafes and other attractions are very safe. If you would go quite far outside, it can get a bit dangerous in some areas. But again - if you’re just visiting, it’s quite impossible that you would get there.
