I had an absolutely amazing time in Kazakhstan. It was my first ever solo trip and I can't brag enough about how beautiful, serene and untouched this country is. The people are so kind and friendly. I felt so much at ease and safe around the kind souls that I met at my journey. I had been to Almaty, kolsai, kaindy lakes, shymbulak mountain and every single place here is beautiful
Posted: December 30, 2025Experienced: February, 2025I felt really safe and protected when I was around women. But the men behaved disgustingly — whistling after me, making comments, constantly hitting on me, even though I was dressed in full gorpcore style. The city itself is very beautiful and generally friendly, but I wouldn’t recommend going there alone.

I feel safe, because there are a lot of other people that also do it. You should take warm clothes, water, food, snacks, some sweets, maybe chocolate, spf, T-shirt, socks, good mood. No need to pay for entry or overnight stay, take everything with you, you just need to rent a tent and other accessories.

I think city centre is safe because it is well lit and I wouldn’t be scared of anything, but same cannot be said for the outskirts of the city. I think main reason for that is there are video surveillance and lack of lights.

Overall a very safe city, but it’s better to know areas, central is safe enough, but it’s better to always look out. People friendly, but be aware of scams as well, especially taxi, use only official apps
Posted: July 29, 2025it's true that it's not the safest place, however in recent years Almaty slowly becomes a lot more safe. there's always people walking around in the evening, even with kids. the center of the city is the safest zone. i'm a person who always chooses to walk to the destination or use public transport and I rarely or never experience any forms of assaults
